San Marino's Youth Games are a recent initiative, conceived by San Marino National Olympic Committee. The first edition was held in 2011 with the support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Every year around 1000 young boys and girls, aged between 6 and 18 years, compete for two days in games and tournaments of more than 20 different sports disciplines. The goal is to provide youngsters with a new approach towards sports, encouraging them to compete in a healthy and fair sports environment and, why not, to discover future sportsmen and sportswomen. The Games are usually held in the first week of June.
