San Marino at the Olympic Games

In 1960 San Marino goes for first time at the Olympic Games in Rome.
San Marino don’t go to Tokyo 1964 for problem with the budget but is present in all subsequent editions: Mexico City '68, Monaco '72, Montreal '76, Moscow '80, Los Angeles '84, Seoul '88, Barcelona '92, Atlanta '96, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 e London 2012 where gets the best result ever.
In Winter Olympic Games San Marino was at Innsbruck 1976, Sarajevo '84, Calgary '88, Albertville '92, Lillehammer '94, Salt Lake City 2002, Torino 2006, Vancouver 2010 e Sochi 2014.

San Marino, despite not having direct access to the sea, took part, thanks to a special agreement, even at the Mediterranean Games. For this event arrived in San Marino "heavier" medals.
In 1985 the Olympic Committee Sammarinese invent the Games of the Small States and organize it.
Since then 8 countries (Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco and San Marino), take part every two years. Since 2011 (Liechtenstein) is also the Olympic Committee of Montenegro. In 2017 San Marino will return to host the Games of the Small States for the third time.
